VTTA AGM 2019

Report for the VTTA web site Scotland Group News:

The VTTA National AGM and Prize presentation was held in Solihull on 26/1/2019. Scotland Group was represented by George McLaughlan, Iain McLeod and Alex Munro. There were also presentations on Standards Review and the Website and membership System. Minutes and copies of presentations will be issued, but here are some points of interest.

Standards – A review of results since the standards were changed in 2012 showed that they had become generally “fairer”, but there are still a few anomalies, especially for men aged 80+. The method used in 2012 has been applied to results from the last 3 seasons. The outcome is that there will be a few tweaks to the standards tables for the upcoming season. Some discussion took place on a different method for standards – Proportional plusses. To be investigated.

Web site – The ability to join and renew membership on line is proving to be well used and helping to recruit new members. This is also helping to reduce workload for our officials. The Group News pages are not being used as much as was hoped. Plans for the future include adding group age records, with the ability to add, update and delete them,  and a direct debit option for subscriptions.

Prize presentation – The BAR was won by Jackie Field, the first time that it has been won by a woman. The prizes were announced in an interesting and informative manner by National secretary Rachael Elliott, just one year after she suffered a life threatening stroke, amazing.

AGM Agenda:

3 Financial Forecast – No changes in subscriptions this year, but we need to monitor big items like income from subscriptions and expenditure on the magazine and web site.

All the proposed changes to Rules and Regulations were from the NEC, with one of them being a joint proposal with the London & Home Counties. Several were to give a consistent approach to award of medals and jerseys to women in VTTA championships.

5. To have the costs associated with Honorary Life Members borne by the Groups rather than the NEC – rejected.

6a/b Standards Applications – Change the Regulation to have just one category, Any number of attempts per season at all distances or times on one type of machine – approved.

6c Set a National fee for Standards – rejected.

7 Track records – to allow Outdoor track records to be set on track (fixed wheel) or road / time trial bike – approved.
