The Midland VTTA will once again be running its points series for its members in 2023.  Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Tim Wood at Echelon Cycles and match funding from the VTTA committee we have a prize fund of £500 to be awarded at the end of the season.

As in previous years any Midlands VTTA member who participates in an open event on a K course will be awarded points and entered into the competition.  Members need to ride 4 events as a minimum and it will be your best 6 scoring events that count.

So how are the points awarded? Points allocated as follows: 100 points to the last placed rider, 105 to the second-last, and so on up to the first placed Midlands VTTA rider (all other riders are excluded from the results).  So the more Midlands VTTA members participating in an event and the higher your placing the more points you score.  So as to ensure there are no ties everyone will be awarded one additional point for each ride on a K Open event, so with 23 eligible events this year that’s  23 points available.

Scott Westwood and myself will collate the results using the VTTA website, so its essential that your CTT account is linked to the VTTA for you to be included in the competition. Here is a LINK  to show you how.

We will post updates here at various times throughout the season so you can see where you stand in the competition.

Prizes have previously been awarded for the top 10 finishers at the end of the season.  Number of prizes this year is still to be confirmed.  Once the prize fund is agreed this may be extended to top 12 or 15.  All results are based on Age Adjusted times (Standards) not actual finish times.

Competition Rules

All Midlands ‘K’ Open events (except hill climbs) are counting events.

  • Open to all active / paid up Midlands VTTA members.

  • Solo bikes and trikes only (no TTT’s or tandem rides}

  • Best six rides score – but only four rides needed to qualify for awards.

  • Age Adjusted Times / Standards used to decide the position of the field.  Only Midlands VTTA members included when deciding the finishing positions.

  • Points allocated as follows: 100 points to the last placed rider, 105 to the second-last, and so on up to the first placed Midlands VTTA rider.

  • To minimise the risk of a tie in the final table each rider will receive one additional point for every K course event ridden.  This is not limited to the 6 counting events.

  • Any remaining ties will be resolved by the rider with the highest average placing across his/her highest scoring six events taking the higher place in the final table. If there is still a tie this principle will be extended to seventh event, and so on.

Best of luck this year in all your races and we hope the Midlands Points Competition adds an extra sense of excitement and hopefully achievement to your 2023 season
