A new release of the website to provide Direct Debit was made on February 18th at which point a major issue emerged – the new version of Stripe that the website was using, which supports DD, has a new mechanism for validating bank accounts, which is needed to meet money laundering regulations. This problem had not been picked up in system testing because we were using test bank accounts. No transactions, online, DD or BACs, can occur until the bank account has been validated. This has now been done for all groups and it is possible to pay by card for all groups. After validation there is a delay of up to 5 days for DD to become enabled. It is now possible to pay by DD for most groups.

A user can choose to pay by card or direct debit by ticking or not ticking the auto-renewal by DD checkbox in their checkout basket. If they do not tick it, on clicking the the button to make payment the user is presented with a form to enter their debit or credit card details. If they do tick the DD box, the user is presented with a form to enter their bank account details. If either form does not appear then that method of payment is not available for that group. If DD is selected and processed, the user is marked paid up immediately and receives an acknowledgement email from Stripe within a day.

If you do not see a checkbox for autorenew, please email itmanager@vtta.org.uk. This may be due to an old invoice in your basket, and it needs to be rebuilt.
