Online Join and Renewal suspended

A new release of the website to provide Direct Debit was made yesterday at which point a major issue emerged – the new version of Stripe that the website is using, which supports DD, has a new mechanism for validating bank accounts, which is needed to meet money laundering regulations. This affects some groups not all, but we do yet know which ones it is not working for. This problem had not been picked up in system testing because we were using test bank accounts. If a group is affected no transactions, online, DD or BACs, can occur until the bank account has been validated. The treasurers of the groups affected will need to provide identification evidence to Stripe.  We aim to get this done as soon as possible.

Non-paid up members will receive an email today alerting them that they should wait to renew until they receive their next renewal email.
