JIM OGDEN
                                          6th February 1930…….14 MAY 2024

Few people  are able to influence our lives through a sporting element.
Jim was one of those valued and highly respected people.
He was to many , a legend in his family and in the cycling fraternity.
Evidence the tributes and condolences seen on Facebook  and other platforms.
It is with great sadness that I am penning this notice of his death following a UTI some months ago from which he never fully recovered.
My, our, thoughts are very much with his loving and very proud family.
Jim was a member of the VTTA for over 50 years, the chair of our Group for 47 years and  served as National President from 2005 to 2009.  He was awarded the Ted Bricknell trophy in 1998 for outstanding services to the Association.
He enjoyed National successes with the Midland Clarion Team in the 1950’s, consecutive BAR team awards. In the 1970’s he joined Altrincham Ravens and with fellow Manchester members, won the National 3 Distance competition over five consecutive years.

Well noted for his attire, in particular those cravats…a man of distinction on and off the bike.
A gently spoken person always with a smile, a bridge across the changing faces of time trialling from the 60s to present day.
In the past 12 months Jim had turned up at some of the VTTA events always willing to help out in some form or other. Often just to speak with friends and acquaintances in the cycling family.

There will be a more comprehensive obituary to follow.
His funeral  will be at Broken Cross Methodist Church at 2 pm on Wednesday 5th June . His family hope  as many people as possible will join them at the Cock Inn pub at Henbury after the funeral.
