Manchester & NorthWest  Group

A few early notices of forthcoming events.

Committee meeting:

November 19th 11.00 am at Snowdrop Café.

Yes a committee meeting but folks interested will be welcome.

AGM: 1st December at Goostrey Village Hall.

9.30 doors open. Meeting will start at 10.00.

Refreshments provided.

We encourage as many as possible to attend because we would like to take some time reminiscing about the life and expoits of Jim Ogden.

It would be useful if people let us know that they intend to be present.

If a sufficient number of people indicate interest, we would invite Lou and Jo, his daughters, to attend.

It is also an opportunity to question the committee about its plan for the Group, particularly regarding motions for the AGM in 2025.

The NEC have increased annual subscriptions for the coming year by £1.00 for individuals and £2.00 for joint membership.

The committee have agreed to the raise, which is to enable the NEC to engage a part time administrator to work with the national committee.

We have agreed to absorb this increase from within the Manchester Group
current annual subscription for the time being.  The 2025 subscription will
remain at £20 for single membership and £25 for joint.  The fee for
Standards also remains unchanged at £15 for a single machine, i.e. TT Bike,
Road Bike or Tricycle.

Both local and NEC would like to hear riders’ views about road bike(RB) competition in Open and National Championships. It is important that those riders intending to compete on RBs do understand that there will not be a specific table of standards/AATs.

Advice from the VTTA IT manager is simple.  Baseline times can be reset so a rider starts from scratch with Standards next season.   This enables one to compete against self on a road bike and not chase  TT bike performances.  The system is not sophisticated enough to cope with both at once at present.  The system is under review and the VTTA are looking to embrace road bike in TTs as much as possible in the future.

A reminder that David Wright has sent out information regarding claims for 2024 Standards and the closing date is 31st October.

Annual award lunch, 12th February, is to be confirmed but we are staying with Masonic Hall again with a subsidised cost of £25.00.

Any suggestions regarding the format and meal would be welcome.

Hoping to see as many as possible at the forthcoming meetings.
